Before you order
Will it work in my well?
Start with these three requirements. Not sure about your setup? We’ll help you understand what to check.
Maximum installation depth
Your static water level—the distance down to the water when the well is at rest—must be within the pump’s reach.
Your well can be deeper than 150 feet. What matters is the water level and placing the piston below it.
A removable well cap
Your well needs a pitless adapter configuration with a cap that can be removed for installation. The water line exits underground.
Have a well seal instead, or unsure what you’re looking at? Contact us before ordering.
Well casing diameter
Your well casing needs to be at least 5 inches in diameter to accommodate the hand pump alongside your existing electric pump.
Not sure of the diameter? Check your well records or ask your well-service company.
Tell us what you know about your well. We’ll help you identify the details to confirm before you buy.
Water level close to 150 feet? Contact us before ordering. The piston must sit below the water surface, and the installation must stay within the 150-foot limit. Available clearance and your specific well setup also matter. Illustrations are simplified and not to scale.

Plan your setup
What’s included.
What you’ll need.
We supply the hand pump components. You purchase the pipe and installation supplies separately to suit your well.
The parts that make it work.
- Pump piston with foot valve
- Pipe couplers
- Handle and installation fittings
- Installation manual
Your pipe and supplies.
Gather these before you start. The correct pipe specifications matter.
Thin-wall PVC pipe
- 1-inch thin-wall PVC SDR 21 · Class 200 / 200 PSI
- 1/2-inch thin-wall PVC SDR 13.5 · 315 PSI
You’ll need both sizes, in lengths suited to your installation depth. Standard 1-inch Schedule 40 pipe does not provide the internal clearance needed for the kit’s couplers.
Tools and installation supplies
- PVC glue/cement
- Pipe cutters or a hand saw
- Drill with a 1/16-inch drill bit
- 1-3/8-inch metal hole saw
Shipping long pipe is expensive. Purchasing it locally helps avoid that cost and lets you buy the length your well needs. Having trouble finding the correct pipe? We can help you look.

A few more answers
Good questions.
Straight answers.
From well depth to pipe selection, here’s what to know before you order your backup.
My well is deeper than 150 feet. Can I still use the kit?
Possibly. Total well depth and static water level are different. The kit has a maximum installation depth of 150 feet, so the water must be within reach and the piston must sit below the water surface.
If your water level is close to that limit, contact us before ordering so we can discuss your setup.
Can it be installed alongside my electric pump?
Yes, in a suitable well. Your casing needs to be at least 5 inches in diameter, with a pitless adapter configuration and a removable cap. Available clearance inside the well also matters.
Review the compatibility requirements and ask us about anything you’re unsure of.
How much water can I pump?
Approximately 4–5 gallons per minute, depending on pumping speed and depth. Output will vary with your installation and how quickly you operate the handle.
Why isn’t the PVC pipe included?
Long pipe is expensive to ship. Buying it locally helps avoid that shipping cost and lets you purchase the length your well needs.
You’ll need both 1-inch and 1/2-inch thin-wall PVC pipe. See the pipe and supplies section for specifications. If you’re having trouble finding it, we can help you look.
Do I have to install it myself?
No. The kit includes installation instructions for DIY assembly, but you can share those instructions with a local well-service professional if you prefer help.
Watch the installation video before deciding how you’d like to proceed.
Does the kit come with a warranty?
The kit includes a limited lifetime warranty covering manufacturing defects in eligible components during your ownership. Normal wear parts, including the piston seal, piston shaft, and foot valve seal, are excluded.
Read the full warranty terms for coverage, exclusions, and installation requirements.
What should I check before placing an order?
Confirm your static water level, casing diameter, and well-cap configuration. Check that you can obtain the correct thin-wall pipe and review the installation instructions.
Also review our shipping and return policy. Installed kits cannot be returned, so contact us first if you’re uncertain about compatibility.
